Brief Description:  Trim Tab Riveting

This little Trim Tab is still getting the best of me. Goal for this evening was to rivet the bottom of the T.T. Spar to the skin. Edges were easily reached with the squeezer, but no such luck in the middle. Using an idea from Van's Airforce sight, I extended the reach of the flat squeezer die with some washers (see picture #1). This helped me reach all but two rivets. Well...I finally resolved to use the DRDT-2 dimpler for riveting instead. They say not to do this, but I was careful and made sure not to overstress the plunger. For the -3 rivets, it worked! And nothing was bent or broken.

So now I have a similar issue with E-717 and 718. I did use a few MK319-BS rivets to secure the end-ribs to one side. I'm trying to minimize their use, but that might be easier said than done. We'll see. I just ordered the longeron yoke so that might help with a few. Should have done that before tackling this part of the Empenage.

I also must order the electrical supplies to complete the trim tab motor wiring. I still need cable sheathing and some lacing cord. I really need to kick it in gear here to finish this section of the project. I'm really anxious to start the wings!!!!
