Manual Reference:  Sect. 6
Brief Description:  Almost Complete with H.S.

Just four rivets left in the Horizontal Stabalizer and that sub-component is done!! Almost sorry to finish up this phase. Left something to do after work on Friday. Will re-coat the inside with another coat of wash primer using the Air Gun this weekend. Must wait until everyone is gone so the fumes don't affect anyone. Only have one mask.

Looking really good so far. Must go around and touch up and QA all the rivets. Found that you must come back and do that, except for the really bad ones that stand out. My standards lapse when tired, so I find myself being much more critical the next day (when I don't mind drilling out and riveting again).

Have found the fastest technique to be the parallel approach, where you place rivets and tape over every-other dimpled hole, rivet in series, and then tackle the adjacent holes. The pneumatic squeezer has been wonderful so far. Checked with Cleveland Tools and will probably buy the "Main Squeeze" and the 4" thin yoke to get at the leading edge rivets. Eventually will also buy the Longeron Yoke.

Also found that a few rivets (only two or three) didn't line up very well. I used the 3/32 punch to align the skin and rib holes, and that seemed to work okay. In two instance so far, the dimple was simply not set very well and I had to use the pop-rivet dimple dies to get things right.

More to report on Friday night.
