I finished the installation of the Dynon remote compass. I fabricated a flat tray and screwed it down to the two angle supports I riveted into the tail cone long ago. The Delrin shims I fabricated angle the unit forward to match the pitch of the D-100 EFIS which will be installed in my instrument panel. I checked the final installed angle of the compass and it is 1.4° off from the D-100. The spec calls for within one degree. I am going to wait until the forward top skin is riveted in place (which will affect the final angle of the instrument panel) and check this again. There is a calibration function in the D-100 to make up for small variances in the position of the remote compass which should make up for this tiny installation error. If not, it will be easy to adjust the angle of the compass box to get it perfect.
