I had already installed the nut plates on the aft flanges of the Z-Brackets for the right hand tank so I installed them using 2 out of the 3 bolts per bracket. Then I clecoed the tank ribs to skin and rear baffle. Then I placed the tank assembly onto the main spar and checked for a good tight joint where it meets the leading edge assembly. Tomorrow I will use a 12" #30 drill bit to back drill and cleco the inboard most Z-Bracket and then remove the cleco’s holding the leading edge assembly onto the main spar. This will give me access to drill and cleco the most outboard Z-Bracket. Finally I can remove the tank skin and inner ribs from the rear baffle and back drill the inner Z-Brackets using a drill stop. This procedure does not follow Van's instructions but I think it is a more accurate way of drilingl the tank brackets. (Thanks to Dan Checkoway; www.rvproject.com).
