Brief Description: Set remaining rivets on elevator stiffeners.
My buddy Sean was in town so I imediately put him to work helping with the bucking of the last 11 rivets closest to the elevator trailing edges. I was unable to back rivet these because I didn't want to flex the other side far enough to make room for the rivet gun. So, we used a mushroom set and the tungsten bar to buck them in place.
We angled the end of a 2X4 to provide support to the skin while bucking, which helped a lot.
Next up is bending the elevator trailing edges.
P.S. Instead of ordering a $35.00 die for number 12 screws, I thought I would try to make one myself out of 1/4" flatbar. I figured I would sacrifice a #12 screw for the male die and use a c clamp to squeeze them into the forward face of the counterweight skins. See log entries on 6 May 2007 for more images and the results of this method.
