Brief Description:  Longeron bending.

I spent a lot of time researching and planning for this step. Once I came up with a game plan I constructed a wooden frame to secure a large wood working vice I had. I purchased a 4 Lb dead blow hammer and a 15” crescent wrench. I placed the F-843-L-1 longeron in the vice and put a twist into it as illustrated on DWG 66. I used my digital level to get close to the 7.25 degrees called out in the plan. Then I placed the piece on the garage floor and placed a scrap piece of angle on top of F-843 and hit it a few times to open up it’s angle to 96.5 degrees. Then I put it back in the vice and added the twist to the aft end of it. The first left side took over an hour and the right side about 5 minutes. They both fit pretty well. I marked a center line on the auxiliary angles but will wait to put the slight curve in them for another day. Finally I measured and marked the upper longerons in preparation for bending them tomorrow morning.
