I completed the canopy latch assembly by drilling and tapping the exterior latch handle, installing the spring and final installation. I placed an ‘O’ ring between the exterior handle and the canopy skirt to provide a bit of friction so the locking hook stays up out of the way after unlocking the latch. This is necessary because I installed a pull ring at the aft end of the skirt to aid in opening the canopy which takes me to far back to hold the hook off the locking post. The latching system works pretty well.
