Brief Description: Mock up rear bulkheads and tailwheel spring
Mock up rear bulkheads and tailcone skin. Matchdrill skin. Cut hole for tailwheel spring. I bet I assembled and disassembled these parts 6 or 8 times to get the hole for the spring correct. I started by cutting the hole roughly by Vans drawing. I was too lazy to take the plans upstairs to lay on the scanner and copy the pattern. So I rough measured the cutout and started there. With each assembly I would mark and cut just a little more. In the end I got a very nice hole with about a 1/16th inch clearance all around the spring.
Drilled the spring to the bulkheads as per the drawings. Use good drill bits. I bought a new 1/4 for the bolt holes, it's amazing how nice it works.
