Brief Description:  Fix VS and rudder

Great day. After several days of thought I figured out how to fix my leaning VS. Since only the holes at the top of the fuselage had been drilled I will remove the left bolt, straighten the VS, reclamp and drill the lower holes. The rear spar at the bottom would need to move very slightly to correct the lean. With a shim in place to hold the spar in position I reclamped everything and drilled the lower bolts. After the clamps came off I remeasured from the top of the vertical stabilizer to the edge of the horizontal stabilizer and now I have the exact same numbers, perfect!! The upper left hole had to be redrilled for the bolt to fit so the hole is slightly oversize, but I bet just a couple of thousands larger.

I mounted the front joggle plate and checked the rear hinge straightness. with the joggle plate cut down 1/8 inch the hinges were perfectly straight. Drilled and colecoed the joggle plate.

Mounted the rudder. the Heim jointed needed a small adustment to allow the bolts to just drop in. Seemed like the bottom joint was way too far out. I used the measurements supplied when I originally built the rudder and I was supprised the lower measurement was so far off. I cranked in the lower Heim 2 full turns and came out on the other two 1 full turn. The rudder mounted without any trouble, each bolt just dropped into the holes. The rudder moves very freely.

Mocked up the rudder stop parts and the right on was perfect with the correct distance measured to the HS. The left one needs just a little work. Strung the rudder cables through the fuselage. Looks good!!!!
