Brief Description:  Finished spars and ribs

Fabricated the HS-909 shims. Cut strips from the extra stock Van's sends. Used the new sander to get them into shape. My fabrication skills are returning. Got both shims within .005" of each other and within .015" of the plans dimensions.
Assembled the HS complete with ribs, spars, and shims. Match drilled all the holes. Disassembled and debured all the holes. At this point everything relating to the inner structure has been completed. WOW I am amazed at the amount of hand work required just to get to the point of final assembly. And I'm not even there yet!

Began building the stablizer fixture for assembling the skins to the ribs. Back to work tomorrow so the pace will slow down. All in all between Christmas morning, calls to family and friends, neighbors stopping by (funny how the news of somebody building an airplane brings the curious), I still got quite a bit done today. My wife has been VERY understanding. Hope it lasts.

Side note: everybody who I tell, or finds out what I'm doing in my basement asks the same question....."How are you going to get it out?" I usually tell them I not only own a tape measue but I know how to use it. I say that now, I hope I don't forget later.
