Brief Description:  finish rudder

Rivet skins to frame. Assemble rear edge and rivet. Bend front edge and rivet.

Once again the description does not reflect the amount of work performed. I spent the last three days spending a couple of hours each night. Since there was not a lot to see I lumped the time all together to create todays entry.

Riveting the skins was straight forward. I just received the pneumatic squeezer and it makes the repetition of riveting so much easier. After getting most of the rivets installed I left the ends of the ribs undone. I mixed a batch of pro-seal and coated the rear edge strip and skins. With the edge colecoed and glued I felt the accomplishment of progress. I came back the next day and riveted the rear edge with double flush rivets. I was suprised that it came out as nice as it did. I then finished the last three rivets at the end of the ribs. I had to make a bucking bar out of a piece of 1/4 angle to get into the narrow part of the rib. I then rolled the front edge of the rudder using a mop handle to make the bend. The curved surface came out very nice. After drilling and deburing the holes I popriveted it all together. Boy, it looks good!!

Now back to the vertical stabilizer since I now have another rear spar to replace the one I screwed up.
