After sanding yesterday's micro, today I cut out the elevator trim tab. It's a bit daunting to cut into the elevator I've spent so long building, but it has to be done. I used an oscillating tool to make the cuts, with a length of angle iron clamped to the elevator to ensure straight cuts. All went smoothly, and only took a few minutes. I was a bit dismayed to find that I had applied as much as 1/8 inch of micro to a portion of the lower elevator skin to make it flat. That will be a weight penalty, for sure, and will certainly require some more lead in the counterweight.
