Brief Description: Horizontal to vertical tail reinforcement layups.
3 BID carbon layups were used to reinforce the horizontal tail to vertical tail interface. A cardboard template was made so the carbon pieces could be cut to a shape that would be better able to conform to the bends around the leading edge of the horizontal. Two pieces were used per side; an upper and a lower. My layup was big enough to extend up the vertical and out the horizontal a full 3" instead of 2" as called for in the manual. I plan to sand off some of the carbon at the ends to feather it down to the adjacent surface so that the micro body work won't have to be so thick.
