Prior to closing the vertical tail, a hole was drilled into the aft spar of the vertical tail, leading edge of the rudder and the bottom two ribs inside the rudder. This allowed a poly tube to be inserted from the fuselage into the rudder for routing of electrical wires for the tail light/strobe and rudder trim.
The bolts were installed into the rudder hinges so that the rudder won't fall when it is cut free of the skin at a later time. 3/16" vent holes were drilled to vent each enclosed space in the rudder and vertical tail. The last step in preparation for closing was to sand and clean all bonding surfaces.
