Shaped the lead weight to fit precisely into the cavity in the leading edge of the top of the rudder, then floxed it in place. A closeout rib was shaped out of a piece of 1/4" prepreg and bonded in place leaving about an inch between this rib and the rudder counteweight. The space will be used if more weight must be added in order to balance the rudder after it has been completely finished.
Image 3 shows the location of this space and the rib so that it can be accurately found after the rudder is closed out and cut away from the vertical tail. A carbon layup was added inside the space to strengthen the rib structure.
Counterweight is bonded into the rudder.
