Brief Description:  Painting the Interior

Today, I finished up a few things before painting. I final riveted the bulkhead straps on the Station 5-6 bulkheads where I previously installed the fuel lines. I also riveted the reinforcement plates near the leading wing attach point, and then final riveted the fore/aft ceiling channels for the aileron slider assembly etc. Finally, I cut the foreward eyebrow windows, cleaned and rolled the edges as best I could. Next, I turned my attention to final paint prep, by covering the windows, and then with a tack rag I wiped the entire interior clean. I assembled my paint gear, put on my suit and full face respirator, and then climbed back in for a dry run of the painting procedure. Finally, I mixed the paint, and went at it. What a mess. Actually, it turned out wonderful, only one run in the whole interior. I'm very happy I had on the paint suit and full face hood. There was a lot of mist. The most difficult part was keeping the face mask clean. I used tear off masks but they would coat up fairly quickly when working in the tight spaces.
The paint was MetaCryl, an Austrailian product that has an exceptionally high solid content. That makes it easy to spray and it coats very well. My primer was SEM self-etching Primer.
