Brief Description: Horizontal Stabilizer Installation
|
|
Today, we got a late start because we went flying this morning. It was 75 degrees, crystal clear and smooth. We spent the rest of the day leveling and drilling the final holes in the stabilizer attach points. Then, we disassembled everything and deburred, cleaned, prep'd and primed the attach fittings and packer assemblies. When we put it all back together, the horizontal stab is approximately 1/2 inch off vertically from side to side. Ugh. Tomorrow, I'll check the torque on all the attach fitting bolts. Perhaps a bit too much on one side has thrown it a bit off. In addition, we worked to make sure the vertical fin was aligned perfectly. Similarly, we had it aligned, drilled and when we final riveted it in place, it was off slightly. Not noticeable, buit fruistrating. Next, we'll work on the lower aft fuselage tail wrap.
