Brief Description: Wing and Tank Skin Installation
Today, I worked on odds and ends -- sort of a punch list as I'm nearing the point to finalize the skin on the wing. After much hand wringing, I decided to bolt on the aileron/flap hinge brackets per the plans, with AN3 bolts. I saw several pictures on the rebel forum that did a similar install, heads on the inside, and nuts on the outside. I used the larger shims (1/8") to provide more bearing surface on the inside of the relatively thin rear spar material, I used one thin shim on the outbard #5 hinge point, under the hinge bracket. I will realign them after the wing skins are finally riveted on.
I also prepared and prosealed the tank doublers and fuel water drain. The picture below is from the inside of the tank.
