Today, I completed drilling of the left main spar, including the spar caps. Since the build up with the spar caps is so thick, even my 1/2 inch cleco's were not long enough. Consequently, I mounted the spar on edge, then cleco'd alternating from each side, front and back for the spar caps. This allowed me to drill them out to final size.
Next, I began disassembly of the spar, and began the cleaning edges/deburring/priming prior to final assembly. I should easily finish the left spar tomorrow.
Home projects are still getting in the way. Today, I also made a visit to a local grass strip and spoke with the owner about the process for building a strip.
