Brief Description:  Prop Governor Stud

This afternoon I attacked the broken propellor governor pad stud. First, I put my stainless plate over the stud and trimmed it as flush as possible and level. I then mounted the jig my friend Charlie Eubanks made for me. There is an off center centering boss in the middle that fits in the hole on the mounting pad. All these holes were a bit off center for centering purposes on the engine, which made the jig fabrication more co. mplicated. On the lower left, you can see a removable bushing. Charlie made a #30 busing and a 1/4 inch bushing. The stud was a 5/16 x 18 threaded stud. After drilling it out to 1/4 of an inch, I could barely see the top of the threads on one side. I used a combination of a regular tap and a bottoming tap to get the rest of the material out. I was able to get the tap to thread perfectly, and now the new stud fits perfectly! Thanks Charlie
