Today I worked on the trim Tab on the elevator. I fitted and fixed the front Trim Spar (part of the elevator). I used EP-420/30 to mate the parts. The trim tab hinge is stainless steel and I wanted to make sure there was no galvanic reaction with the aluminum skin/spar.
I then worked on the trim tab. I fitted the spar to the trim tab, and drilled #40 holes through the top of the skin, the aft portion of the hinge, and the rear spar. After struggling a while to put the piano hinge back together, I recalled something I read, probably from a Tony Bingelis book, and used my battery powered electric drill to twist it in. It worked wonderful.
Tomorrow, I should be able to finish the trim tab etc.
