Brief Description:  Cabin Fuel Lines

Lesson Learned -- put fuel lines in while building fuselage cage, not after skins are installed. It was very difficult to work in tight spaces, especially tightening fittings. I had no trouble flaring my tubing, I have a Parker Hannifan Flaring Tool from Aircraft Tool Supply that works really well. I used oil on every flare, and then assembled the fittings with Fuel Lube from ACS. I still need to make some means to hold the fuel valves in place. Basically, I have a 90 degree fitting that a tube will slip on from the wing tank. I used the Murphy valve, but replaced the Murphy fittings with Aluminum AN Fuel fittings. I ran the 3/8 inch OD tubing at a 45 degree angle through the Root Rib and Station 5 Bulkhead, using a piece of 1/2 PEX tubing to protect the tubing where it passed through the bulkheads. Unfortunately, I had to add a coupling at the top of the bulkhead, where the line transitions downward. I kept it near the top, see Image 3, and will add an access plate to look at it occasionally. I removed the upper rivets in the #6 bulkhead skin from the outside to allow me to move it slightly in order to tighten the fittings. I then ran the lines through the floor and teed them on the left side of the aircraft, and intend to add a gascolator just in front of the tee assembly, then transition it to the firewall. I also added an ADEL clamp halfway down the bulkhead, to keep the line from flopping free in the bulkhead assembly. I simply used an AN-4 bolt with an elastic stop nut to hold the clamp in place. Again, tight quarters.
