Brief Description:  Rudder Installation

Today, I spent a couple of hours reaming out the rudder hinges. Photo one was the most difficult. I was able to get a 1/4 inch hand reamer in place with tape wrapped around the upper part of the reaming section. I then used a needle nose pliers to turn it. I approached it from both top and bottom and was successful and didn't even leave a mark on the reamer from the pliers. The upper and lower hinges I was able to access through the top of the rudder and the bottom of the rudder. The male counterparts were easy. Next, I spent some time laying out and cutting out the clearance for the rudder horn as seen in the second photo. I drilled two 3/16 holes for the corners then cut out the horizontal pieces with a hacksaw. I used a cutoff wheel in my dremel to make the vertical cut. I'll clean them up tomorrow.
