Brief Description:  Cowling-instrument panel supports

I needed to make a flange that followed the contour or the instrument panel. I could have used tabs spaced every 4 or 5 inches but decided to go with a continuous flange. I chose T3 .025" and cut a 2" strip 48" long. I formed a 90 degree angle with my bench brake and a dead blow hammer. At the bend I drilled 3/32" holes at a 1 inch intervals. I made a small template to cut notches in the flange leg to allow the flange to bend. I don't think T3 is suitable to use the metal shrinker. Image 2 shows the two instrument panels. The rear panel is .063 T3 and the forward panel is .040 T3. I expect to have a VFR plus panel and wanted a bit more metal to support the weight. The forward panel will have a glove box door, airspeed and altimeter only. The bottom edge of each panel has been bent to match the angle of the panel.
