The plans show a "parabolic" cutout on the inboard end of the axle. Totally a freehand drawing that I made into an aluminum pattern. This was held on the end of the axle and traced. A vertical mill was used to hog out the metal. Hand filing to final shape. I would use a hand held cut off wheel in the future. The mill didn't work like I wanted.
