Today I aligned the elevator & HS. Had to trim the nose skins back to clear the center horn bracket. I found it easier to do than I thought. I set the two pieces so they were laying bottom side up, parallel with each other, and level on the bottom as shown in the Homebuilt Help videos. I drilled out for the hinge gusset mounting holes and clecoed them in place.
At this time, I discovered I had installed the 1/4" bushing, part #75T4-9, into the wrong bracket. It should have gone into 75T2-7, but I put it in 75T3-6, the part coming off of the elevator. This is the bushing that holds the 3/16" bolt which holds the elevator & HS together at the center pivot point. No big deal, I ordered another bushing from Zenith and will complete this phase when it arrives. I did cleco the HS & elevator together to verify no clearance problems in full travel of the elevator. 56 total hrs. to date.
