This work occured over a few days. Installed fuel tank for the final time, ran wiring for tank fuel sender and tank ground wires. Fitted up root top skin, drilled out to A-4. This is not the easiest piece to get properly fitted, as there are no match holes to line up with. I had to do a lot of edge filing and custom shaping to make it look decent along the nose rib area, but after speaking with a couple of other builders they had the same issues. I put root top skin away for later install when the wings go on the plane.
Ran into a problem with the fuel line pass-thru at the rear spar. There is no grommet that fits, spent 1/2 a day trying to find it in the kit. After a call to Zenith I found out there is a problem with it and they are sending me the correct one. No problem, as it can go on anytime.
Installed the wingtip and the Pulsar EXP Nav/Pos/Strobe lights. Tested lights with a 9V battery and they look really good.
I used a trim ring made by George Race at mykitairplane.com to dress out the fuel tank filler neck area with some nylon edging material as you can see in the photo.
After I was satisfied all was well, I did the final riveting and this wing is ready for storage. Finishing this wing brought a great sense of accomplishment to me, which by the way I needed at this point!
