Finished the practice kit today by rolling and riveting the leading edge. There's several techniques to do this but I went with the highly technical broom handle and tape method. Prior to that I ran the leading edge rolling tool I got from Cleveland Tools along the top skin to get a bend there. I think the rollers were too close together and/or not "rolly" enough and I ended up putting some marks and a bit of a wave along it. Will need to work on that some more. After affixing the handle/tape and rolling, I then tried to match drill the bottom skin. This was very challenging as the skins pull away from each other and there's no good way to clamp the middle part of the skins. There's got to be a better way. Finished it up with blind rivets and set it aside. Not too happy overall with the completed product, so I ordered a second one from Van's. I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionsist, but really want to make sure I have this down before starting the real thing.
