Vans advice in the manual on page 5-24 regarding studying the plans three times and visualising it is spot on. I add to this looking at Dan Checkoway's, Richard Horan's Dignity and Dan's RV7 Factory websites as well - it is time very well spent.
Sports psychologists get sportsmen to visualise themselves playing/driving well and my RAF instructor taught me mental rehearsal during my flying training - it's very powerful and when you apply it to building it feels like you have done it before, which you have - in your mind
