Brief Description: Tie Down Bracket 2 - Drilling the holes
I also double side taped the tie down bracket so as I manoeuvred the spar it didn't move, it was then clamped. Having the alignment lines show where the bolt holes would appear and as Image 2 shows there were no nasty surprises. My two building heroes Dan Checkoway and Richard Horan both had to send for replacement brackets (there is not much room for error on those middle inboard holes) so I was determined not to join them - boy am I pleased with the result.
Drilling the nutplate holes was straightforward. Boelube an AN3 bolt gently through the spacer (hidden in photo), the tie down bracket and into the nutplate. Then clamp, drill, cleco, drill. I simply couldn't do without the cleco spring clamps they are brilliant 1" and 1/2" from Avery.
