Brief Description:  MGL GPS Aerial and Cable

This item has been added post build do to a query on the MGL Users Forum about GPS dropout. As I write this I have over 6 months /48 hours flying and not aware of any GPS droput. I have looked at GPS speed on my data log of some flights taken at random and no evidence of a GPS droput (data is recorded avery second).

I followed the instructions regarding coiling the spare GPS cable (see photo) and attached the loop to the underside of the coaming, though my loop is a little shorter.

The GPS aerial had the magnets removed and attached with 3M Dual Lock to the forward part of the coaming (see photo). Hole drilled in coaming and bushing size of cable fittng installled.

I have not used any ferrite rings todate as (a) I have had no interference issues and (b) I am concerned about the weight increase of the ferrite rings when I pull 5g!

Next time the EFIS is out I will try to get a photo of the cable coil in position.
