With the top skin riveted it was time to fit the baggage door lock.
PROBLEM
With the door locked the spindle is a diamond shape whereas the lock arm is in the half lock/open position as the hole is a square. Homer here didin't pick this up until I fitted it! DOH!
SOLUTION
I made a new arm and match drilled #40 holes with the single ear lock arm that comes with the ignition/locks. I could have made a square hole but this was much quicker and it works fine.
As you can see I used cotter pins instead of safety wire - not sure why the plans call for that.
The plans call for someone inside to push up under the hinge whilst you drill it. As I wanted to proceed solo I used some of the 1" foam that will be used to waterproof the hinge gap and wedged the hinge in place. This worked a treat. My edge distance is a bit out on the hinge due to a less than perfect fit of the door. That said the hinge doesn't seem to take much of a load.
