Brief Description:  Canopy Skirt 5 - Bonding skirts to the canopy

PREP (previous evening/day)

* Bonded and riveted the aft end join tab to inside of the left skirt.

* Prepped inside of skirt (as test piece - see previous entry) and sanded with 80 grit any high spots and painted the inside of the skirt black except where the skirt contacts the canopy and where the join tab will bond to the other skirt. I plan to attach a lot of the mandatory placards to the inside of the skirt and will use black labeling to match.

* Taped off the canopy and the aft end join tab (for first skirt)

* Spot painted the rivet holes on the frame with the paint you can get from Van's for all the powder coated items.

BONDING

* The epoxy is like proseal so same precautions as sealing fuel tanks

* Opened canopy to my first stop about 8 " and covered centre canopy rail with cling film under the aft end to prevent any unwanted bonding!

* Bonded and clecod skirt to canopy (see previous entry on test piece for procedure) - needed an extra pair of hands to make sure aft end remained clear of canopy whilst I clecod the skirt to the frame.

* Joined aft end with clecos. Closed canopy. Strapped aft end to maintain contact with canopy.

* Filleted any gaps between canopy and skirt with remainder of epoxy + flox to thicken into a syringe to make this easier.

* Removed tape from canopy

* Full cure is 7 days so I'll leave the strap on for that length of time
