Brief Description:  Hinged Fuse Panel 1 - Principle

I decided not to go down the Vertical Power or circuit breaker route but fuses for cost reasons and they have been reliable in cars for years so why not aircraft? They also stop you resetting in the air, which is a plus in my view and fits in with current best practice.

The problem was going to be accessing the fuse blocks. I did not want to go down the mod route of cutting the aft bulkhead on the forward baggage bay - I have done enough mods already. The simplest solution , and in my opinion the best, came from Dan Horton in the USA - a hinged fuseblock panel.

The left of centre is for the Essential and Non Essential bus blocks and the right one is for the Hot bus. The added advantage of the panel is that the top side can be used to house other electrical items - space utilisation at its finest.

I am so pleased with the initial fits and there is no way that these will accidentally drop down in flight due to the use of the stainless steel spring and the depth of the catch recess.

I used 0.5 mm stainless steel from ebay pre-cut into 2 x 2"x2" and 1 x 3 1/4" x 2" £4 incl P&P.
