Brief Description:  Fuel Flow Sender 1

I decided to fit a Flo Scan fuel flow sender as it will help determine best range speeds and over the long term it may pay for itself.

Where to put it? There is almost as much debate on this as Primer! Tony Bingelis unfortunately does not cover these in his engine bibles so I contacted my engine maker Aero Sport Power and Bart suggested between the mechanical pump and the injector servo.

The routing is a bit tight but doable (see Fuel Flow Sender 2 for final photo). It is recommended to wrap the sender in Firesleeve but the wide stuff to fit the sender is VERY expensive. In a fit of very rare original thought I decided to use some left over SCAT because:

a) It has a similar temperature rating to firesleeve (I wrapped the sender in sections of spare firesleeve inside the SCAT)

b) The diameter fits perfectly

I made up the hoses and pressure tested to 250 psi. The max fuel pressure (Injector inlet) in the Lycoming manaul is 45 psi so Standard Practice states you should pressure test hoses 150% so my 250 test is well above that. The superbly engineered pump was borrowed from a friend who uses it to pump his mountain bike shock absorber.
