To fit round the sump the standard IO-360 Mixture Bracket (VA-164) had to be modified. I calculated that 1/4" should be enough and took it to the fab shop at work. Neil kindly took his angle grinder and cut out the marked area, I filed it and touched it up with the Vans powder coat touch up paint.
The 1/4" worked out perfect and Neil and I were both surprsied on how little effect the removal of the materail had on the bracket rigidity - over engineered in the first place?
I had to use an AN3-11 bolt and some extra 5702-75-60 washers on the inboard of the VA-165 Mixture Belcrank to prevent the rod end bearing contacting the Mixture Bracket before the mixture arm hit it's end stop.
