Brief Description:  Round Ireland Part 1

Finally in mid October the forcast was for 5 days of stable weather so a previous plan to tour Ireland was dusted off and Flight Plans/General Aviation Reports/Prior Permission Required emails were fired off like a light machine gun going off and before we knew it we were in the air on the way to Kerry to refuel before landing in Insiheer the most eastern and smallest of the Arran Isles.

On the way to Kerry the EFIS threw up some odd warnings and a look behind the panel did not reveal anything obvious and as the weather was good and I had back up systems we decided to procceed to Inisheer.

At 500m Inisheer is at the bottom end of my acceptable runway length but with a 5 kt headwind it was not going to present too much of an issue. After paying our exhorbitant fee of 10 Euros for landing and overnight parking :-) we decided to hire some bikes to explore the Island at 10 Euros each too. Our first stop was the cemetry to find a sunken Church and also view JBTR as the 1630 Islander made its touchdown to deliver some passengers.

After exploring this quaint Island that has 200 inhabitants we stopped off at the first of the Islands three bars - yes correct three bars! The Guiness was delightful and the bill was 10 Euros.

We had a pleasant evening in our hotel bar and after a full Irish breakfast we were ready to continue the journey from this delightful island. Highly recommended.
