This was the first time the 3Rs have raced at Llanbedr and with three runways and the Welsh mountains as a back drop it was a great venue. We arrived early Friday and with John Bate, Mark and Jo Turner we caught the train to our accommodation in Barmouth. We stayed in the Tal Y Don pub and caught up with racers after our evening meal.
The Saturday race was quite different to normal races as 95% of it was over water and this presented a different challenge.

Although I crossed the line 4th I had a close start so 13 seconds was taken off my time and discovered the following day that I had a back to back win! We had a lovely dinner that night in Bistro Bermo (Barmouth) with Jo and Mark Turner before joining other racers fo a drink.
Unfortunately the Sunday weather was pants and the race was cancelled. Several racers had to be at work on Monday so abndoned thier aircraft in the hangar. We stayed an extra night then on the Tuesday I flew to Elstree to pick up Dan Pangbourne (Race 8) and flew him back to recover his plane on a glorious flight.
