Brief Description: Haverfordwest Air Race 2015 - 2
After welcoming the arrivals for the race with a cold beer and a meal at a local pub it was time to rest ready for the Saturday race.
Greeted by blue skies but a chilly westerly breeze it was time to practice and find the turnpoints and plan the turn in points - seemed to go well.
Now time for the race. As I set off on the first leg I said "Ginger if you're up there watching lets give it our best shot". After 30 minutes of racing I came to the final run in to the finish line to see Dan Pangbourne and his father David in their Grunman Tiger finish 7 seconds ahead of me - rats!
What I didn't know until later was that Dan had cut a turn and his speed was a little fast so with penalties applied I came first - my first victory and what a race to do it in. My excess distance was 0.15nm and my handicap speed was spot on - I had proved to myself I could do it!
The added bonus was Jill presented me with the trophy!
