The AFS system requires a magnetometer be mounted where there is a minimum of moving steel parts and electrial signals. The area behind the luggage compartment seemed like the most likely place to put it. The mounting directions suggested that the magnetometer had to be oriented to the AHRS that is mounted in the panel mounted assembly. Since the panel slopes up about 7 degrees, so does the base of the mounting surface. This seems a little awkward, but the directions were pretty clear. Based on this, I built a box that would house the magnetometer and provide rigid support. This box will be riveted into the longeron and one of the bulkheads. Clearance was provided for riveting the outside skin on.
