Brief Description: Fiberglassed horizontal stabilizer tip ends
Finally got the fiberglass and resin from Aircraft Spruce. During the time I was waiting, I made a similar mold for the vertical stabilizer tip in much the same way as was done for the horizontal stabilizer. I layed up four layers of 2 oz cloth on the inside of the mold. I cut the fiberglass so that it would extend about 1/2" up the sides of the tip all around. After letting the fiberglass cure overnight, I was able to open the molds. The surface of the tip end was nicely contoured and had very few pin holes. I filled these with more resin and sanded the surface flat. No fiberglass to sand on the outside of the tip.
