Brief Description: Installed electric elevator trim assembly
After visiting Oshkosh, Kay and I decided that it would be better to have electric elevator trim than to use the manual trim. This way, we can use a top-hat switch on the control stick grip to control elevator and aileron trim at the same time. This will also allow us to adjust trim while extending flaps. Thanks to Bob Butler of the builder's group for this tip.
We got the electric elevator trim parts in, so I decided to do this upgrade. I had to remove the horn from the trim tab because a different horn us used for manual trim. I mounted the servo to the access panel. I adjusted the hole in the access panel and the elevator to accomodate the threaded pushrod and the clevises. I mounted the horn on the trim tab and tested operation using the servo control module. Worked great. You can see the extents of travel and the indicator on the bench. Pretty cool.
