Brief Description: Drilled top skins and riveted baggage floor
Fitted the forward to skin with all the attendent stiffeners and stringers. I then drilled both top skins. I then riveted the baggage compartment side skins into place. I liked what Dan Checkoway did with the compartment he put into the baggage compartment floor. I fugured it would provide storage space for things that you would always want with the plane, like a spare quart of oil, tie downs, etc. I decided to cut a hole for a door to put into each side. I measured the holes so that there would be sufficient room for the hinge and the hinge pin insertion. Once these holes were cut, I riveted the baggage compartment floor into place inlcuding the nutplates for the center channel and the aft wall plates.
