Brief Description:  Shop Preparation - drawing boards

From the experience I had in Griffin, I realized the importance of access to the Van's drawings during construction. I decided to build two drawing boards to display the C sized drawings on the wall. These would also act as storage holders for the drawings I didn't immediately need. The board are hinged against the wall with two separate fold down props used to set the angle from the wall. The boards are made of plywood, but I wanted to be able to use magnets to hold the drawings in place. I routed three grooves in the boards to hold 3/4" x 1/8" steel flat stock. The grooves were cut a little deep so that I could completely cover the steel with bondo to prevent any rusting. Found some rare earth magnets to use to hold the drawings. Even with the bondo covering the steel, the magnets can hold down 8 drawings at once without a problem.
