I bought two latches to keep the oil filler door closed. The latches are spring loaded, but don't have limits on their open position. I was concerned that after time, these would flip open and damage the door or the paint job. So I set out to build open limiters. Basically, I made these out of sheet aluminum with a rummber layer to absorb the shock of the opening latch. Theser will be rivetted to the bottome side of the latch when it is installed. I dont like the additional clearance needed on the bottome, but there is plenty of room to accomodate it. Now the latches open to a vertical positionso that the can't hit ane part of the door when the are opened.
