Brief Description: Rear spar plates, Clear Coat, prime metal parts
Lots done today. Unclamped freshly glued rear spar butt plates on both wings. Sanded their edges to match the spar. Cleaned sawdust from them. Mixed up some Clear Coat and applied the first of two coats to all the spar holes and doublers. Used a giant pipe cleaner to do the holes and a 1" chip brush to do the doublers. Took about 60cc total to do both wings. Set up the new Fein Turbo 1 dust vacuum and cleaned the floor and all the flat surfaces in the garage of saw dust. It is just plain awesome! Found the two landing wire pins by length depicted in the plans. Cleaned and lightly sanded them then sprayed with two coats of zinc chromate. Found the four I-strut aluminum reinforcement plates. Deburred the sharp edges, removed masking tape residue, etched with vinegar/water mix and a scotchbrite pad, applied two coats of zinc chromate primer.
