Tacked and welded the LH bell crank. Went smoother than the RH several weeks ago. I learned some different techniques to change how the metal reacts to heat while welding the two idlers. Take the machined jig plugs out of the ends after tacking the arms up in the jig. The plugs act as heat sinks when making the fillet welds at the arm/bearing cage joints. The metal responds to heat in a more predictable manner instead of the puddle delaying then jumping or forming a hole with little warning. I also have learned to limit the caffeine intake prior to welding. Less shaking of the torch. Also, when things get frustrating I now take a pause and step back for a few minutes instead of trying to push through and make it worse. There is a slight amount of distortion on one end of the cage however, it should be easy to adjust with a dremel and some light sanding on the inside of the cage.
