Determined from many pictures of Model 12 kit fuselages on 2wings.com that it would be prudent to install brackets in the rear cockpit area for mixture, fuel valve handle, oil shutoff valve handle and heater knob. I estimated the sizes and locations purely from the pictures. I made thin cardboard templates for the three brackets and used them to trace a rough shape on .032 chromoly sheet steel with a sharpie. Cut the brackets out with the bandsaw and sanded them to fit between the former and vertical abeam the instrument panel. Cleaned the primer from the fuselage structure with a 3m abrasive wheel. Wiped down everything with acetone where welding will occur.
