Brief Description:  Painted

Time has come to test my painting skills on a larger surface (wing). I checked the primer coat over and rubbed back a couple of small spots before I began, placed the wing in the booth and painted, 4 coats on the bottom and 4-5 on the top, turned out great, nice and glossy no orange peel look. I will rub it back slightly with the 2000 grit and then cut and polish. A lot of work this spray painting but the end result is worth it. Then I will put the fuel tank back on.
Today I wet rubbed the bottom of the wing back slightly with the 2000 wet & dry sandpaper, then using my hand polisher with a 'Farecla' G.Mop compounding head (Panel shop told me these are much better than a lambswool polish head - must agree) and used 'Farecla' G3 regular grade compound paste to polish. The trick is too keep the G.Mop head damp and continually use a water spray bottle to keep surface damp, keep polishing until you feel the paint is getting a gloss, wipe of with a clean cloth and hey presto, lovely gloss paint work.
Today 7/12/2011 I finished buffing the top coat, wing is finished with the painting, nexdt is bolt the tank back on.
