Finally, the engine, a Rotax 912 ULS, arrived. It's a beauty. Not cheap but reliable, quiet, light and powerful. Unfortunately, which is a major drawback, in my opinion, there are a lot of work before it is ready to run. Exhaust system, water cooling system, oil cooling system, engine wiring, fuel system, throttle connections, air box installation, carburator synchronisation etc.
Anyway, before attaching the engine to the engine mount the exhaust system was mounted to the engine. Also the left upper and right lower aluminium tubes of the water pump was re-directed to fit the engine mount. The tubes seem to look allright when they arrive on the engine but, actually, they will hit the engine mount if not re-positioned a bit. So, the water pump tubes were removed, put in an anvil, heated (to soften the Loctite) and re-positioned approx 20 degrees (downwards-left upper tube, uppwards- right lower tube). This was in fact easier than I expected. It was also a good idea to attach the complete exhaust system loosely to the engine before attaching the engine to the mount. Much more space and easier to wrestle with the springs. Likewise, both the oil cooler and the water cooler were loosely attached to the engine before engine mount.
Finally, the engine was steered into the engine mount and fixed with locktite and bolts at 40 Nm. There is not much space to move around and it took me and my friend Jörgen almost 3 hour to steer the engine into position. The first three bolts were easy but the fourth one (right lower) was a real demon and refused to fit. Perhaps the engine mount was a tiny bit skew because we had to apply a substantial amount of force to direct it the last 1 mm. To tighten the bolts you need a long 8 mm Allen wrench, the type with a bulb.
Anyway, the final result appears to be ok and the engine seems to sit tight. Time will tell if I'm wrong.
